Ahhhh Yes Good Old BASIC Program's
For those of you in the "point and click" crowd that never have had
a clue as to how your computer works, or why it does what it does, then
read no further ( unless of course you always wondered why).
BASIC is/was a programing language that started the whole computer
revolution. Today there is still what Billy Gates calls Qbasic, built into
most systems in the free world..... One must remember that BG controls
nearly all of the "free worlds" computers with his "stolen" Windows
program.
At any rate, The C=64 had BASIC built into it's ROM, which meant as soon
as you turned it on, you could program it with a few keystrokes and make
it do what you wanted it to do. ( Try that on todays machines ).
The BASIC commands were pretty straight forward and easy to understand
with commands like GOTO or GOSUB and PRINT.
Each line of the "code" was assigned a line number for the program to
reference
10 PRINT "Hello"
20 GOTO 10
The above program would send your computer into an endless loop printing
the word HELLO on the screen. Now look at this:
10 PRINT "Hello"
20 GOSUB 40
30 PRINT "There"
31 GOTO 60
40 PRINT "Line 40"
50 GOTO 30
60 END
Your Screen would display
Hello
Line 40
There
Pretty BASIC eh ???
BASIC is a fun programming language to learn, and as they say, once you
know the "basic's" the rest is easy....... and you can do that right from
this CD. There are hundreds of reference files and even more BASIC programs
that you can load, edit and experiment with....... and the nice thing...
you will never have to worry about messing up Windoze to learn how to
program in your C=64 Emulator....
