CLIFF'S OF MOHER

cliffs

A visit to the Cliffs of Moher is one of Ireland's great natural thrills. For five miles the dramatic cliffs soar as high as 700 feet above the Atlantic. From the T.I. center walk 200 yards past harpists and accordion players along a low wall of the local Liscannor slate to the cliffs edge. O'brien's Tower (1853) marks the highest point.

For the best thrill, read the warning, consider the risk, then step over the slate barrier and down onto the stone platform. Here there are no crowds. If you're a risk taking fool, gingerly belly out to peek over the ledge. You'll find yourself in a dramatic world where the only sounds are the waves, the wind, and the gulls. There's a particulary peaceful corner of the platform over on the far right. In the distance on a clear day the Arran Islands can be seen
