My grandmother was Elizziebeth ROGERS, ("Lizzie"), born Sept. 30, 1884, in Tarrant County, Texas. She married Embury D.P. WESLEY March 9, 1902 at her parents' home in Armstrong County, Texas. She died Nov. 29, 1951, at Canyon, Randall County, Texas, and was buried in the Wayside Cemetery, Wayside, Armstrong County, Texas.
Lizzie was the daughter of Reuben Brawley ROGERS and his wife, Martha Elizabeth BAKER. Martha was born March 13, 1846, in Dallas County, Texas. (According to the Minter's Chapel History she was the first white child born in Dallas County.) She and Reuben were married in 1863 in Tarrant County, Texas.
Martha died Feb. 3, 1920, at Wayside and is buried in the Wayside Cemetery. Martha was the daughter of Charles BAKER and his wife, Lucretia MINTER. Charles was born April 12, 1826, in Kanawha County, West Virginia (now Cabell county). He married Lucretia Aug. 11, 1844, in Sangamon County, Illinois. Charles died Nov. 25, 1870, and is buried in the Minter's Chapel Cemetery, (now part of the Dallas-Ft.Worth Airport land), Tarrant County, Texas. Charles was the son of Thomas BAKER and his wife, Nancy ROBERTSON (ROBINSON). Thomas was born March 3, 1794, in Campbell County, Kentucky. He and Nancy were married Dec. 29, 1823, in Kanawha County, West Virginia.. He died Jan. 5, 1852, in Sangamon County, Illinois, and was buried in the Sulphur Springs Cemetery, Loami, Sangamon County, Illinois. We received information from Richard Baker which takes our Baker line back three more generations. The father of Thomas BAKER was Joshua BAKER, b. 1 June 1761 in Baltimore County, MD. He married Sarah ______ in 1789 in Washington County, PA. She died before 1820. He died after 1829. They had six children.
Joshua was the son of Nicholas BAKER (II), b. June 1712 in London, England. He married Martha WOOD Jan. 4, 1741 in Baltimore County, MD. She was born Feb. 14, 1724 in Baltimore County, MD. Nicholas had died by March, 1774 in Hartford County, MD.
Nicholas was the son of Nicholas BAKER (I) and his wife, Susannah ______.
Martha WOOD was the daughter of Joshua WOOD (II), b. 1 Oct. 1694. He married Martha ______ before 1720. She died April 20, 1728 and he died May 14, 1740. They had four children. Joshua WOOD (II) was the son of Joshua WOOD (I) who died about 1710 in Baltimore County, MD. He married Mary ______ who died before Dec. 1704 in Baltimore County, MD. They had two children.
