Revolution
A Revelation
            Windsurfing Magazine, Sept. 2000

For the static version of the story of the B-Team -- a dynamic group of young pros moving up fast to take on the stars of windsurfing -- check out page 53. For the large-action video version, check out Revolution.
Young guns, up-and-comers, grommets, the little brothers, the B-Team; whatever you call them, they're full-on in this 30-minute wave-sailing flick, with very little cutesy footage and absolutely no spoken words. There's just sequence after sequence of Luke and Levi Siver, Jason Stone, Kyle and Kevin Ponichtera, Lalo Goya, Nat Gill and others doing their thing in the waves on top of a very progressive soundtrack by groups with names like the Swollen Members.
Some of the stuff these guys do is insane. (Obviously they heal faster than their older counterparts.) Within what can't be more than a minute into it, there's unbelievable footage of Luke Siver fully stratosphere-bound and tucking into a double back loop. No, he doesn't stick it, but it doesn't matter; your mouth wouldn't be able to drop open any farther even if he did.
You don't really notice the difference in their style as a group until well into the video when guys like Jason Polakow start dropping in. The B-Teamers seem fast and aggressive, almost reckless, while the big boys seem more fluid and flowing -- aggressive in their own right, but with a certain smoothness and style. Even the waves on which the old-schoolers are slashing seem thicker and meatier somehow. But with all the new moves that the B-Team throws out there, you don't know which style is more entertaining. And, of course, there's plenty of action of the team sliding and bonking on that PVC pipe contraption that we featured in March on page 46.
According to the makers of Revolution, the intention of the video "is to raise the general awareness about windsurfing and encourage an upsurge of young people to enjoy our wonderful sport." And we've got to say, they may be on to something.

Revolution
A Wavesailing Tour de Force                                Maui Time Magazine, July 4, 2000

One of the newest videos to make its way into the Maui Time office is Revolution, a 30 minute windsurfing program with numerous full length cameos of the wave sailors seen on the cover. The Maui footage is interspersed with several shivering aerials from Oregon. Makes you glad you call Maui home.
Revolution also sports a diverse lineup of music behind the thirty minute video. From the punk in drublic sounds of NOFX and Lagwagon to the old school hip hop of Del The Funky Homosapien and a little techno offering from Junkie XL.
The minds at BootLeg Productions also incorporated some handy props for the windsurfers as well. A large wooden 'rail slide', covered with foam and protruding from the water at a gentle angle is the perfect tool for rail slides and quick tacking. Either that or a damaged board and sore ribs.
Another notable point about Revolution is the lack of chit chat and filler blab. It makes for a good ambient eye candy tape to roll over and over. Revolution is available at surf shops island wide or you can check out their site online at www.windsurfingvideos.com.
The video is also a recent recipient of a Telly Award, the video equivalent of a Grammy, and the producers have also produced windsurfing pieces for MTV and ESPN2.
Favorite segments include Josh Angulo, Levi Siver, Keith Taboul and the infamous
Kai Katchadourian.
Good to see the Maui boys getting recognition here and on the mainland in videos like Revolution. Reminds you what a good thing we got here.

Mahalo,
Mark
